hutch--

chiwing,

We have members here who have been coding in various dialects of assembler for over 30 years, since they were young fellas. I have been writing this stuff for about 15 years and before that I have an engineering background. I learnt asm, basic and C at the same time and tend to think in all three.

That long ago it was very useful to be able to supplement other languages with assembler code as well as developing small apps in assembler. Both basic and C could use assembler modules.

The best I can do for you with advice will depend on how much you already know, if you have a bckground in compilers for Windows, MASM32 is a good place to start as you know enough but note that it is really geared for experienced programmers. If you are not confident that you know enough, I would heartily recommend Randy Hyde's AOA and HLA as Randy Hyde is a good teacher who is geared for teaching people with his work.

With assembler tutes, you have Iczelions, Thomas Bleekers snippets and other useful stuff and both the archives of this forum and the win32asm forum to read. There is much more available but I don't have it all in my head.

Good luck with your quest.
