For the past several days, all I get when I try to acces the "other" forum is:

Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage

I'm wondering if the problem is from my side or the other side. If it's the other side, would anybody know if the site is down or has any other difficulty. Can anybody else access the site successfully?

if you are refering to http://www.asmcommunity.net/board/, it comes right up, here

take a look in your HOSTS files to make sure it hasn't been looped back to 127.0.0.1
C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc\Hosts  (TXT file with no filename extension)
if you see a line that looks like this:

127.0.0.1  www.asmcommunity.net
remove it

if that doesn't get it...
you may want to look at your IE security zones to see if it was accidently blocked

I can access the ASM Community Messageboard with IE, and the most recent posts include at least one post each from 4/27, 4/28, 4/29, and 4/30.

Thanks for the confirmatioons that the problem was at my end. None of the suggestions worked.

However, there was something I had been wanting to do since last year . McAfee had been installed when I purchased my current computer and expired last year. I had then downloaded Windows Essentials but never had scrapped McAfee. Every time I was restarting the computer, I would get that pesky message telling me that it had expired and offering a renewal at a discount (~$50) :boohoo:. Suspecting it may have something to do with my problem, I decided to remove it entirely from my system.

After restarting my computer, I can now access the ASMcommunity site. :clap: :clap: :clap: :clap: :thumbu
I wonder how many more problems it may have ben causing without my knowledge. :tdown

McAfee at free is too expensive of an AV.

Costs into lost time and still catching viruses is a shame.

I recommend to EVERY person that asks to get rid of it, the headaches are too many.

BTW, It is not recommended not to run more than one system wide AV.  Hind sight now.
