I am interested in buying some used DDR memory, PC2100 -> PC3200.

133 -> 200 Mhz frequency.

I would like (2) 1 MB modules if anyone has some for sale.

Have a great day,

Do you mean 1 GB? And before you buy used I suggest you check the price of new, because memory prices are not what they used to be.

Pulled 1GB DDR 3200 sticks on eBay run about $15-$17 shipped, new they are typically $20-$25. Pulled 2GB DDR 3200 about $25.

New DDR3 is *much* cheaper, about $7/GB (4GB sticks), but 8GB sticks closer to $25/GB

Most of my scrap box stuff is 512MB sticks.

edit: DDR not DDR2
It could be a random act of randomness. Those happen a lot as well.

I did a search for some memory.

I got confused with different number of pins for DDR memory (168 and 240) and I also saw
PC-2 3200 in addition to PC-3200.

Here is what SIW is showing that I have.

What is the exact listing for the memory that I would need ?

If it's a Compaq system, or a system from any other major source, you could try looking up the exact model here.

Also, 168-pin DIMMs are SDR SDRAM. DDR DIMMs have 184 pins, and DDR2 and DDR3 have 240.

hutch--

Two of my PIVs use ddr2-533 but most of the stuff I have in the junk draw are 1 gig simms. If you can get it try for 2 x 2gig ddr2 simms as XP can address it and leave you with a full 2 gig user memory. I am assuming here that your board has 2 ddr2 slots on it and it usually is a good idea to use both as you get dual paging mode on many boards.

This tends to be a fairly good source of accurate info
http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?mfr=HP%20-%20Compaq&model=Presario%20SR1303WM

Your first slot seems to be using a PC2100 ECC memory stick (72-bit), your second a PC3200 non-ECC (64-bit)
The PC2100 is too slow (133/266 MHz), you really do want PC2700 (166/333 MHz) or PC3200 (200/400 MHz), consequently it's overclocking your 256MB stick.

It should be 184-pin DDR (DDR2/3 = 240 pins)

With the right BIOS it might work with 2GB sticks giving 4GB total, and 3GB useable in a 32-bit Windows system.

AMD Sempron 3000+ @ 2GHz

As an AMD system, the built-in DDR controller will support Dual Channel memory (PC2) when available, you'd do well to use two matched sticks. The 2GHz system will also get peak performance from PC3200.

So maybe $24

Thanks to everyone for all the good information.

I tried some computer repair shops, but extremely few keep older memory.

Mostly eBay for the older stuff, EDO/PC100/PC133, certainly plenty of ECC/REG memory from scrapped servers. I've gotten some stupidly good deals on bulk lots in the past.

For new, or need-it-now, TigerDirect is just down the street. There is just a huge spread in terms of price/brand.
