My mother's Alzheimers is in stage 2, so I decided to move in to help her.

Otherwise the state will seize everything she has and put her in a minimal state facility.

Another negative for the U.S.

I won't have internet at the house for quite a while, so I am looking for options.

I can use the Internet for 1 hr. per day at my library.

Is there a basic Newsgroup reader where I could download them to a thumbdrive to be read at the house ?

Have a great day,

FORTRANS

Hi,

For Usenet groups, I use a news server to go out and update
its collection of posts from the free news server at news.aioe.org.
Then I fire up a news reader and look at the new postings.  Not
a mail list.  Not forum traffic.  And a library may be leery of
installing software on their machines.  If you can bring your own
and access the internet, it might be a good way to do it.

I do it to avoid all sorts of timing problems I was having with
the news reader hooked straight to aioe.org.  A minute or so
of access for ~30-45 minutes of reading on average.

Regards,

Steve N.

Thanks Steve.

I will look for a freeware news reader and do some new learning.

Have a great day,

I have news.aioe.org and Xnews, but I can't figure how to use it from a thumbdrive.

My library lets you write and run programs from a thumbdrive.

Have a great day,
