I am looking for some recommendations.

I would like filter out cigarette smoke for a single room. Size is
about 15 ft. X 20 ft.

My research has shown that I need a unit that has both an ionizer and  a HEPA filter.

I would like opinions from folks that have such a unit.

Hi,

I had an ionizer filter as part of my central heating and air
conditioner.  Helped my allergies.  Well worth it at the time.
Big thing attached to the blower box.

Since my allergies are primarily to dust and mold spores, in the rooms where I spend the most time I have for years used freestanding HEPA filter units to control these allergens. This year with all the wildfires, I have learned that I also have some fairly severe allergies to the smoke from the fires, and when there is smoke outside I have increased problems inside, despite the filter units. I suspect that smoke particles are too small for the filters to trap.

From what I read, use of a negative ion generator plus a HEPA air filter, should knock out a lot of
tar and smoke.

The positive ion generators are a waste as they generate ozone. :-)
