yah - that was kinda cool
usually, when we get these "haboobs", the wind is very strong
it's like being in a sand-blaster
this one, the wind was a little mild
it left a strange cloud of dust hanging in the air
this morning, i went out and looked to the east
at first, i thought i was seeing the moon
but i remembered it's a new moon at the moment
i was looking directly at the sun - very cool

hutch--

We get them here in OZ but fortunately mainly inland but we did get one that landed here in Sydney a couple of years ago that gave us a red sun and made a mess of the entire city. The stuff that blows from the inland here is about as fine as talcum powder and it goes through everything and you end up with gritty teeth, a genuine joy.  :P I had to wash the crap off my big potplant at the front of the house as it was so thick it would kill the plant by denying it the normal photosynthesis.

did it mess up any auto paint-jobs ?
it does that here - it's like you wanted to remove the paint
not as bad as some of the hail storms, though
makes a car look like you were in a shoot-out with bonnie and clyde   :bg

hutch--

We get a bit of hail here but in 1999 we had a freak hail storm that hit the eastern side of the city and they were baseball size. Smashed roofs, cars and anything else it landed on, I saved my old car by putting on a cycle helmet and putting bits of timber sheet over the roof, bonnet and boot. One smashed through the back window while I was covering the car, they really WERE that big. My suburb looks like the Blitz in London in WW2 after the hail storm. Spent a couple of grand to fix the panels that were damaged before I fully covered the car.
