Seems like I read an article about this somewhere. Genetically Modified food's contribution to the overall Global agricultural production is estimated to be marginal.
The rate of population increase,...the rate at which arable farmland is destroyed, and, the severaly reduced availability of non-polluted water, fertilizers, equiptment, and adequate financing,...are all much greater problems (by several orders of magnitude) affecting increased efficiency in global agricultural output.
