MASM32 Vs ml.exe of Visual C++ 2010

I just found that the ml.exe installed by MASM32 is version 6.14.8444.  Is there any difference between it and the ml.exe bundled with Visual C++ 2010 (which is version 10.?.?)?  Can I use the one from Visual C++ 2010 instead while using the libraries come with MASM32?

the reason 6.14 is packaged with the masm32 libraries is license
most forum members replace it with a newer one
it only supports SSE2, if i remember - 6.15 and up support SSE3 or better - something like that   :P
be sure to grab the ML.ERR file to go with it, if there is one
