CPU chip info

I salvaged an Intel P-4, 2 Ghz chip.

I currently use an AMD Sempron 3000+ 2.0 Ghz.

I am trying to find out if the Intel chip is any better.

I don't know yet if it will fit in the motherboard.

Another concern is the heat sink that was attached to it.

It was about 70% plugged up with dust. (The fins.)

I should have tested to see if it worked before I took it out.

PIV would not fit into AMDs socket, i.e. it will not suit to the motherboard.

It's a Gateway computer with a made for XP sticker on the front.

I have other computer hardware that would fit in it like a CD burner, modem, etc.

Is it worth getting it running again?

i'd say it's worthwhile - but then, it would be easy for me
but - you could sell it for a few bucks and use the money to buy an ether switch or router   :P

I am putting some screws back on the motherboard to test the thing.
Also seeing if another power supply will fit inside as well.

I could not figure out how to take off the side panels.

the fun ones are HP's - lol
there is always a little hidden spring someplace that needs to be pushed to remove a part

H.P. are definitely my favorites. NOT !!

I had to use my angle grinder to see the innards of their printer.

Next printer might be an Epson.
