Cdburnerxp hangs when closing the disk in Vista.
This happens when burning an ISO image to a DVD.
It seems to work for everything else.
I know about ISO recorder but can't get it to start up.
What do you all use for this task that is free?

hiya Jack
i use CDBurnerXP also
i have never had any trouble with it
it does require at least .NET 2.0, i think
i run it under XP
maybe you want to go to filehippo.com and get an older version or something
as an alternative, that site is a good place to look for something different...

Hi Dave,
None of those burners say that they work on Vista. As I said before cdburnerxp seems
to work ok for everything but burning an ISO image. I have all the latest updates for Vista so
that is not the problem.

Might have to find and learn how to burn it in PclinusOS.
Then take the DVD into Vista to do what I need.
Any port in a storm. It's almost like Vista doesn't exist.
Seems the Cdburnercp guys needs to do a little updating.
But it's free so you can't expect to much.

Have you tried vista's built-in burning? Right click an iso and select 'burn to disc'.
Microsoft had a simple program to burn iso's as well - cdimage.exe - not sure if it's for vista though.

Raggs - might be good but I don't sprecken zie Deutch.
Dave - Nero wants my email. That's a nono.

However I think I have solved the problem. It probably is not the best but it will do until Cdburnerxp updates
their program or ISO Recorder get the bugs out of the Vista version for DVDs.
That's one reason I have 2 operating systems on my puter. Windows and PCLinuxOS both have their
good and bad points.

Here is the answer I got from the PCLinuxOS 10 forum:
Q. What program do I use to burn say Clonezilla-live iso to a DVD.
Can it also be verified.

A. If you downloaded the "Clonezilla-live iso", a file with an ".iso" extension you can select it on K3b
and K3b will burn it as a file structure on a Cd or DVD.
When you open the app, open the folder that contains the file and doubleclick on it.
It will open the burn iso window, it will do an MD5 checksum that you can compare if you have
the original MD5 file that some sites provide, just insert a Cd or DVD and press burn (or begin?).

It also offers an option to verify written data.

You can use Brasero or other burning apps on Linux to do it but K3b is the easiest app.
Be sure to burn it as an ISO and not as a file.

Haven't tried this yet but I am certain that it will work just nicely.

Jack- for you or any other person interested in that site I gave a link to, there is a pair of
little flags near the top. Click the combo US/UK flag to the right of the German flag to get the
site in English.

Hi Raggs,
Thanks for pointing that out to me.
It is so small my tired old eyes couldn't see it.
I sent them an email asking them to enlarge it.
Hope they do.
