Why do people get virii?

Just got an email and apparently the person has a virus.  1st the link goes to a Russian site, then another and finally shows me a site for a Canadian pharmacy selling viaga and the likes... quite funny....  Why or how do people get virii?  Sloppiness? Stupidity?  I don't have an AV installed (once in a blue moon I will install one to check my system)  Do you know what a "Blue Moon" is? It is 2 full moons in 1 month.  :bg  Never had a virus except when I downloaded them many years ago out of curiosity...

Mostly, people infected by virus because of lack of knowledge. Worm should be easier to get rid off, but virus which attached to your application is deadly and harder to get rid off. I recall when my laptop infected by a virus detected as level7 bla bla, I cant remember. It attached to every exe I got. At first it was a VBS script but but once it executed it will infect anything used MSVCRT. The main problem is that virus infected my codec installer and I never noticed.
So, I reinstall everything in order to remove the virus.
Currently I got linux Flash Disk so there would be no any problem anymore, I cleaned my system from conficker (last virus infected my laptop) and now I can see my hidden file and the administrator tools like WTM dan regedit.

Nice to hear that AVG created the Slax version of their AV. Even Slax as far as I can see would be never be infected by any virus but the tool still in handy.
